Session Trace
Find a session, read its Session Trace, and open the full Conversation with an audit trail.

Before you begin
- Session recording is on for at least one AI tool. See AI Tools.
- You have the Admin or Auditor role. Members only see sessions from their own endpoints.
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Session ID | A unique code. Hover to copy |
| Source Asset | The asset the session came from |
| User | The person the endpoint is enrolled to |
| Account Used | The account signed in to the AI asset, which can differ from the user, for example a personal account |
| Tags | Session tags from Session Policies, colored by severity |
| Est Cost | Estimated cost in dollars |
| Messages | Number of messages |
Search prompts, users, or session IDs. Filter by Source Asset or Hostname.
The Session Trace
Click a session. The Session Trace opens: a timeline of when the person spoke and when the AI made tool calls, without the message text.
The panel on the right shows:
- Information: models, estimated cost, message count, hostname, user, the account signed in to the asset and its plan, the session ID, and session tags. Each tag has a View link that scrolls to the matching turn. A session synced from Cloud Agents without its text shows Content: Metadata only.
- Execution: the MCP servers, skills, and tool calls the AI made, with call counts and a link to each one in Inventory.
The Conversation
Fetch the session
Click Fetch Session in the right panel, or press S.
Confirm
The Fetch session? window shows the session ID and your own name, and says the action will be recorded in the Audit Log. Click Fetch session, or press Enter.
Read
The full conversation opens, with USER, ASSISTANT, SYSTEM, and TOOL messages.
Every Conversation view is written to the Audit Log. A Conversation cannot be reached by typing a web address; refreshing the page, or going back and forward, returns to the Session Trace. Leaving a Conversation asks you to confirm, because reading it again needs another Fetch Session.
Sessions for one endpoint or one asset
- An endpoint’s Sessions tab on Endpoints shows Sessions, Tokens, and Est. Cost for the last 7 days compared with the 7 before, and lists the endpoint’s sessions.
- An asset’s panel in Inventory shows how many sessions came from it, with a link to the filtered list.
