Chrome browser
Record ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity conversations from the browser.
What it records. Conversations on chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, and perplexity.ai: what the person typed, what the AI replied, the model, and the signed-in account email.
How. The Surface browser extension watches the web app’s own traffic and hands each turn to the scanner on the same laptop. It never sends anything to the internet by itself, asks for no browser permissions beyond the local scanner address, and shows disconnected when the scanner is not running.
This collector needs two things: the switch in the console, and the browser extension on laptops.
Before you begin
- You have the Owner or Admin role.
- You can push a Chrome policy through your MDM, or you are testing on one laptop where you can run
surfaceas an administrator.
Turn it on
Switch it on in the console
Under Endpoint Extensions, find Chrome browser and click the switch.
Install the browser extension on laptops
Through your MDM: see Browser extension for the force-install policy on each platform.
On one laptop: sudo surface extension install chrome, which applies the same policy.
Check
The extension icon in Chrome shows connected. The next conversation on one of the four sites appears on the Sessions page.
Firefox
The extension is also published for Firefox. Force-install it with your Firefox policy.
Turn it off
Click the switch. The browser extension stays installed but the scanner stops accepting sessions from it. Remove the force-install policy to uninstall it.
